English Sterling Silver and Faux Tortoise Shell Brush
From a London maker this filigree edged sterling silver over faux tortoise shell brush was completely tarnished over when found and a great surprise when I started to clean it and found that it’s maker marks were from the Charles Lias silver maker from London, England, and is missing the duty paid mark, a fourth mark and then has an l for the date mark so I’m guessing it dates it around the beginning of the 1900’s. Has the normal dents and scratches expected for it’s age and is missing some of the natural bristles around the edges. Measures 8.5”x3’x 2”. Lovely collectable for an elegant ladies vanity area and can even be used as a clothes brush for the opulent gentleman.
